a) Quantum Chemistry and Molecular Modeling:

  • Theoretical studies of equilibrium geometry structure and normal mode vibration of molecules using quantum mechanics methods
  • Intermolecular interactions (weakly bounded, Van der Waals, hydrogen-bond and charge transfer) using high level electron correlation methods
  • Band structure study of 1D infinite molecular chains with helical symmetry (DNA bases, α-helix proteins)
  • Theoretical investigation of self-assembled molecular clusters
  • Theoretical study of molecular excited states

b) Theoretical Infrared (IR) spectroscopy

  • Theoretical modeling of vibrational-rotational spectra
  • Study of anarmonic vibrational corrections

c) Laser-Molecular interaction

  • Real time dynamics of molecular excited states in interaction with coherent laser field radiation


V. Scientific activity (participation in research projects)

  • 2006–2008: proiect leader of the “Hydrogen bond structure and dynamic in proteins and biomolecules” research project (CEEX-ET-60/30.04.2006).
  • 2005–2007: proiect leader of of the “Theoretical investigation of intermolecular normale mode vibrations in DNA bases. Application in microwave induced molecular” research project.
  • 2006: proiect leader of the „Vibrational frequencies, raman intensities, solvent Effects and anarmonic corrections in case of guanine-cytosine DNA base pair with sugar-phosphate chain” research project (GAR 29/2006) run by the Romanian Academy
  • 2005: proiect leader of the “BSSE effect study of harmonic and anarmonic intermolecular normal mode frequencies in hydrohen bond case” research project (GAR 33/2005) run by the Romanian Academy
  • 2008–2011: member of the „Development of Laser-Based Technologies and Prototype Instruments for Genome-Wide Chromatin Immuno-Precipitation Analyses” research project (FP7-ATLAS, HEALTH-2007-1.1-4)
  • 2011–2014: proiect leader of the "Dynamics of molecular excited states in interaction with coherent pulsed radiation" (PN-II-RU-TE-2011-3-0124/05.10.2011) research proiect.
